    The West Springs Cougar Ridge Community Association (WSCRCA) has teamed up with WinSport to offer our community members another amazing deal!

    Currently WinSport's annual family passes is $1,399, however they are offering it to our members for only $899.99 ($924.99 with the hill road access added)!

    This offer gives you and your family exclusive year-round access to WinSport facilities and events. Total retail value of all the access and perks provided by this pass is $3,000. This pass provides you and your immediate family with free access and exclusive member pricing for visiting family and friends.

    **Family annual passes include immediate family members only. Immediate family is defined as up to 2 adult guardians & dependent children under 18 years of age. At least one family member must be a parent or legal guardian to qualify. Proof of qualification may be required.

    WSCRCA is Proud to Present a Gentle Yoga Class for ALL Adults

    Enjoy a yoga class dedicated to healthy movement, relaxation, breath and awareness. All postures are suitable for beginners as well as those needing a modified program. This class will focus on strengthening weak muscles and stretching tight muscles while releasing tension and improving function. Class will be guided by a certified Yoga instructor from the City of Calgary who specializes in gentle yoga techniques.

    SPOTS ARE LIMITED to 12 participants, so register soon. Registration closes on April. 23.

    There are 6 classes in this event which run every Tuesday between May 1st to June 5th, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    The event is open to members only at a reduced rate of only $30 for all 6 classes ($5/class).

    What to Bring: Please bring a yoga mat with you to each class. 

    Cancellation Policy:

    Cancellations must be emailed by April 23 to membership@wscr.ca for a refund to be issued or by cancelling online by April 23. From April 24 to May 1, refunds will only be issued if the spot can be filled. After May 1, no refunds will be issued.

    WSCRCA is proud to present a 4 week Fitness Mix

    The 4 Week Fitness Mix includes HIIT, JOGA, Kettlebell Kickboxing and Yoga with Laura Flood

    Open to members only (18+) and runs 4 Sundays from May 6 to June 10 from 10am-11am. No class on May 20 or May 27.

    This is a members only event which is being provided at 50% off for only $30.

    Registration is required as drop-ins are not accepted.

    Date: Sundays May 6, May 13, June 3 and June 10 (no class on May 20 or May 27)

    Time: 10:00-11:00AM

    Location: Amica at Aspenwoods (Fitness Center) #10 Aspenshire Drive SW

    Price: $30.00 for all 4 weeks (50% discount). Not a member yet, sign up here for a $25 annual membership.

    Below are some helpful tips, and what to expect in your class:

    Sign and bring the following waiver with you to the first class: WSCRCA Fitness mix with Laura Flood Waiver.pdf

    Arrive 10 minutes before your class time so we can check you in and sign the waivers, if needed.

    Please wear comfortable clothes and bring indoor runners, mat, and water bottle. For the HIIT class, if you feel that you need 8 pound weights or greater, please bring them to the class.

    Classes Schedule:

    Week 1 – Bootcamp Circuit

    Challenge yourself with this fast- paced, calorie-blasting workout which will combine weight training, interval training, cardio and more! Boot Camp is geared toward all fitness levels. Modifications are always offered for the beginner to the advanced.

    * Equipment needed - Depending on your fitness level, please bring weights of 8 lbs and up, if needed. There will be lighter weights provided

    Week 2 – JOGA for the Urban Athlete

    JOGA is the discipline of yoga combined with the science and biomechanics of sport. Designed to change your game and earn your edge.

    Each JOGA session: keeps you agile not fragile, transforms weaknesses into strengths, helps you sleep not stress

    The best thing is we don’t care if you can’t touch your toes! It will bring out your inner athlete!

    * Equipment needed – mat

    Week 3 – Kettlebell Kickboxing

    Kettlebell Kickboxing combines the mobility, agility, and longevity principles of martial arts conditioning with the power, strength and versatility of Russian kettlebell training.

    Kettlebell Kickboxing will work on your strength, cardio and mobility giving you the ultimate workout!

    * Equipment needed – a mat.

    Week 4 –Yoga Flow

    A vinyasa flow class that links breath with movement. This is geared to all levels and we will offer modifications throughout the practice. You will develop strength, stamina, flexibility leading you to state of transformation and empowerment.

    Cancellation Policy: 

    Cancellations will be considered up to April 28, 2018 (1 week before the program starts) and MUST be emailed to membership@wscr.ca or done online. If the spot can be filled by a waitlisted participant, then a refund will be provided. Refunds will not be provided for any cancellations after April 28, 2018.

    WSCRCA Proudly Presents: Little Warriors Prevent it! Workshop Sponsored by AKIDEMY Early Learning & Care West Springs

    Little Warriors together with WSCRCA invites you to Take Action and attend a FREE Prevent It! workshop in your community to learn how to protect your children or children in your organization from child sexual abuse.

    Who should take this workshop?: ALL parents, professionals and volunteers that work or interact with children. All participants receive a workbook and certificate of attendance.

    Space is limited and registration is required.

    This event is free of charge and open to acitve members aged 18+.

    Date/Time: Wednesday, May 9 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

    What to bring?: A pen and water. Please arrive 5 minutes early to get settled into your seat with your booklet. The workshop starts promptly at 6pm.

    About Little Warriors: Little Warriors is a national, charitable organization committed to the awareness, prevention, and treatment of child sexual abuse.

    Did you know?: Experts estimate that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys will experience sexual abuse. 95% of those children will know and trust their perpetrator.

    About the Prevent It! Workshop: The Little Warriors Prevent It! Workshop is an interactive workshop designed to improve attitudes, knowledge and behaviour of workshop participants with regards to child sexual abuse. This workshop is unique in Canada and was developed using research-informed methods and evaluated with scientific rigour. During the workshop adults will learn to take action to help STOP child sexual abuse using the following steps: Study Talk Observe Prepare for Action

    Cancellation Policy: Please email us at membership@wscr.ca no less than 24 hours prior to the event start date to cancel your spot and allow another member to attend the event. Members will be subjected to a $25 fee if they register but do not attend the event.

     WSCRCA is proud to open registration for garden beds in its Community Hub & Garden.

    Location: 25 Weston Park (off 73 St. adjacent to the soccer field & behind the Weston Drive plaza)

    Bed size: Approximately 4 ft x 8 ft x 18 in. or 24 in. 

    Rental fee: $40 per bed for 2018 season (discounted from the regular price of $50 as there is some construction work remaining in the garden). The rental fee includes one garden bed, access to water, hoses, garden shed, resource materials and shared tools.

    Garden season: Late May 2018 (exact date to be determined) to October 31, 2018

    There are limited beds available to rent and each registered member may rent a maximum of two garden beds. To register for a second bed, use the "Guest" option at the bottom of your registration form.

    Registration is only open to active WSCRCA members in good standing. Not a member yet? Click here to sign up for a WSCRCA membership.

    To register for a garden bed:

    Step 1:  Open and review the Garden Map.pdf to identify which bed number(s) you prefer.  Please choose 3 bed numbers in order of preference. You will need to enter these numbers on your registration form. 

    Step 2:  Open and read the WSCRCA Garden Rental Agreement.pdf and Garden Policies _ Procedures 2018.pdf. These documents contain important information that you should know before completing your registration.

    Step 3:  Click on the "Register" box to the left, complete the form, and make your payment. 

    If registration is FULL, you can still register on the waitlist. Additional rental beds will be constructed this spring and will become available. 

    Confirmation of Bed Rental:
    Once you complete your registration form, you will have up to 24 hours to make your payment, otherwise, your registration will be cancelled.

    Within 5 days, you will receive a notice confirming your bed assignment. If for some reason you do not receive confirmation, please contact communitygarden@wscr.ca.

    Cancellation Policy:
    If you need to cancel your bed rental, please notify communitygarden@wscr.ca. Refunds will be issued for cancellations received before 8 p.m.MT on May 20, 2018. Otherwise, refunds will only be issued if the bed is rented to another member for the 2018 season.
